Week 11 Progress

Throughout week 11, the team is working towards finishing the game before the Beta Code deadline is due. The animator and modeler aimed to finish all the remaining assets for characters and enemies by the end of week 11. The modeler and animator were able to finish the design for the two bosses we have in our game as well as the attack and idle animations for each boss. For the environment modeling, the team was able to finish the architecture buildings for the last level. In addition, the first level of our game is also completed and ready to be implemented into the Unity. In addition, the artist continued to work on the skybox drawing for the overall game.

My task this week as a programmer is to implement most of the assets that the animator and modeler made as well as fixing some bugs and glitches that were created last week. In addition, I added in the ultimate animation with a new weapon model (machine gun) and fixed the projectile directions when it is being shot. Furthermore, I also made some changes to the speed of the heavy melee attack as it felt too slow and useless from the previous playtest sessions. Last but not least, I was able to finish the dialog trigger and animations to dialogue boxes and texts when it is being triggered. When the player reaches a certain location on the map, the dialogue boxes will appear with the animated text to tell the remaining part of the story.

A problem that I encountered this week is to try to figure out how to do the checkpoint and save point when the player dies. I could not seem to figure out how the calculation is going to work to save the player's last position. Therefore, I will continue to work on that and also continue to work on fixing any other glitches or bugs the team encounters.
